Whilst you can wear hair extensions indefinitely, they have a longer life if you take the clip in hair extensions out when you sleep. You can put them back in again in the morning. The hair extensions tend to look ratty after about six months to a year, so you need to replace them, especially if you’ve been wearing them a lot. You can use a colour guide to match the colour of the hair to the colour of the clip in extensions for a really natural look. The micro-clips are already attached to the hair and are colour-matched to the hair so that they look completely hidden to anyone who would look closely at them.
Clip in hair extensions don’t obviously work if you have thinning hair or patches of baldness. You need to have enough hair to cover up the clips, which are discretely tucked underneath your normal hair.
You can’t really wash clip in extensions but most manufacturers provide you with some maintenance spray to put on the ends of the hair after using the clip in extensions. This prevents split ends and keeps the natural hair clean. You should have a clean head of hair when you wear extensions so you don’t transfer your dirty hair and oil to the hair on the extensions.
Each set of clip-in extensions come in one 8-9 inch section of five clips each, 5 six-inch sections of four clips each and a 4 inch section of clips. |
